Vinha dos Utras D.O. Pico
Its history alone is enough to make you love it.
Here in the Azores, long before the advent of vineyards, there were Utras, parcels of land very close to the sea. Utra is a transliteration of a Flemish surname belonging to the first settler of Fayal, Joss Van Huerter, who arrived in 1465 and went on to take captaincy of Pico and Fayal.
His role was decisive in the development of vineyards on the Islands and this wine bears witness to the fact.
